Educational Spotlight: Fourth-Year Diagnostic Medicine Rotation
By Dr. Kimia Alizadeh, veterinary resident
Our fourth-year students dive into an immersive learning experience during their diagnostic medicine rotation. Here’s a sneak peek at what they get up to:
Dynamic Lectures and Lab Sessions:
Interdisciplinary Case Correlations: Students explore cases from both clinical and anatomical pathology perspectives, enhancing their diagnostic skills.
Cytology Rounds:
Every Friday morning, our residents present intriguing in-house and referral cases. These rounds are a highlight, showcasing the exciting and diverse world of cytology.
Hands-On Cytology Week:
In small groups of three to four, students spend a whole week getting hands-on with cytology. They choose from various slide sets covering multiple topics, examine the slides, and discuss each case with a resident. This practical experience is invaluable for their future careers.
By blending lectures, labs, interdisciplinary discussions, and hands-on practice, we ensure our students are well-prepared and excited about the field of clinical pathology.
